EIP Legal is looking for a Legal Billings Assistant/Paralegal for a full-time permanent role in our London office.

This is a split role between managing EIP’s litigation billings process and administrative support for the EIP Legal solicitors. It is essential that the candidate has prior experience of legal or patent prosecution billing/client invoicing; Paralegal skills may be learnt on the job.

A non-exhaustive list of the typical duties will include:

Billings Process

  • Overseeing litigation accounts including:
  • - Assisting in the preparation of litigation cost budgets;
  • - Monitoring of compliance with litigation budgets; and
  • - Assisting with preparation of statements of costs (interim and final).
  • Liaising with partners in the firm's London and Düsseldorf office to prepare and finalise invoices.
  • Management of fee earner travel and expenses and management of disbursements.

Administration and Litigation Support

  • Internal document management.
  • External document management.
  • Preparation of papers for the EIP Legal solicitors, external counsel and court.
  • Preparation of papers for external use (for example, court, barristers, witnesses, etc.).
  • General litigation assistance (including participation in disclosure exercises, research and attending internal meetings).

The candidate should have a well-rounded background including experience of legal billing, ideally in an IP/ IP litigation setting. Strong numerical ability and familiarity with excel is essential, as is an organised and confidential approach to legal work. Any experience of our internal system (Inprotech) would be advantageous but is not essential.
