EIP and University of the Arts London launch Art Prize

EIP and University of the Arts London today announce the EIP Prize for emerging creative talent at UAL.

The prize aims to recognise and support the best fine art and design graduates from across UAL’s six Colleges. Winning entries will demonstrate originality and innovation coupled with a drive to succeed.

The winner and two runners up will each receive cash prizes along with intellectual property (IP) advice from EIP as to how they can protect the IP in their work. All shortlisted entries will be invited to participate in a public exhibition supported by EIP in the EIP-sponsored UAL Showroom in 2015.

Speaking at the launch of the EIP Prize at the UAL Showroom, Gary Moss, partner at EIP and head of EIP Legal, said: “We are proud and excited to be able to build upon our existing relationship with University of the Arts London by announcing the EIP Prize. The creative industries are a significant part of the UK economy and protecting the fruits of that creativity is vital.  UAL is internationally renowned for the creativity of its students and we are looking forward to seeing how the students will rise to the challenge which the prize sets them.”

Stephen Beddoe, Director of Student Enterprise & Employability (SEE) at University of the Arts London, said: “By supporting the EIP Prize, EIP have demonstrated a continued commitment to supporting young, creative talent in the UK. EIP share our principles of encouraging innovation and creativity and we believe the students will engage enthusiastically with the EIP Prize.”

Nigel Carrington, Vice-Chancellor, University of the Arts London, said: “University of the Arts London is very happy to receive further support from EIP.  As well as their ongoing sponsorship of our Showroom gallery space, EIP are also now supporting UAL’s creative talent in the form of an art and design prize in 2015.  We would like to thank EIP for their ongoing support and look forward to next year’s exhibition and prize event.”
