EIP hires partner Colin Lobban from Dyson

EIP today announces the appointment of partner Colin Lobban from an in-house role at Dyson.

Colin has 20 years of experience in IP both in senior roles at Dyson and in private practice at two IP firms in London. Colin will be based at the EIP office in Bath.

During his 12 years at Dyson Colin led the IP teams responsible for the vacuum cleaner and brushless motor divisions, and then later the automotive and battery programmes.

He was responsible for developing and executing Dyson’s IP strategy, managed all patent drafting and prosecution and freedom-to-operate activities in all areas, with a particular focus on powertrain, HVAC, and power electronics.

Colin Lobban, partner at EIP, said:

“I am thrilled to be joining such a progressive and thriving firm with a genuinely nice, and clearly very talented, group of people. I look forward to contributing to EIP’s continued growth and hope that my past experience will prove valuable in maintaining EIP’s tradition of providing clear and pragmatic IP advice to its growing number of clients.”

Matt Lawman, partner and head of the Bath office at EIP, said:

“I am delighted that Colin chose to join us at EIP. He brings with him a tremendous amount of in-house and commercial experience, which reinforces our approach and client offering. Colin will be an asset to our fast-growing engineering practice, and I look forward to him becoming an integral part of the team here in Bath.”
