EIP named Patent Contentious Firm of the Year for second time

EIP has won the coveted UK Patent Contentious Firm of the Year award from Managing Intellectual Property Magazine for the second year in a row. The award was presented at the influential MIP Awards 2019 ceremony in London last night.

Led by Gary Moss, the EIP litigation team successfully represented client Unwired Planet in high-profile litigation against Huawei at the Court of Appeal in 2018, involving issues of Standard Essential Patents and FRAND. The Court of Appeal upheld Mr Justice Birss’ 2017 decision from the UK High Court in favour of EIP’s client.

Partner Matt Jones said: “We were delighted to receive this award for the second year in a row, which sheds light on our significant achievement and ability to consistently rank as a world leading IP law firm. On behalf of the litigation team, we are very grateful to Managing Intellectual Property for recognising this landmark case, which will have a lasting impact globally."

The Managing Intellectual Property Awards has been an annual event for over a decade, and short-lists leading IP law firms around the world for awards based on outstanding legal feats in more than 30 categories.
