Philip is a UK and European Patent Attorney and a European Design Attorney. Philip began in the profession with one of the world's leading aerospace companies, Rolls-Royce plc, where he trained in their in-house intellectual property department. Philip then moved into private practice in London with an international law firm.
Philip is experienced in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in various jurisdictions, including Europe and the United States. He is also experienced in preparing written submissions to the EPO’s opposition division. Philip also conducts infringement and freedom-to-operate assessments.
Prior to joining the profession, Philip gained nearly 10 years of industry experience in a variety of design and manufacturing fields. Philip specialised in medical device design and understands the requirements and challenges associated with manufacturing medical devices.
During his time at Rolls-Royce, Philip prosecuted patent applications for inventions relating to a variety of gas turbine engine components, including compressors, fans, turbines, and combustors. Philip also has experience in wind turbines, foodstuff sorting equipment, automatic-counting cash registers and piezoceramic lock technology.
Philip attended the University of Auckland, New Zealand, where he graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering.
