EIP has appointed a new partner in its London office and promoted an attorney to partner in its San Diego office.

David Brinck joins the London office from patent and trademark firm, RGC Jenkins & Co., where he was partner for nine years. David is a specialist in electronics and optics and has almost 20 years of experience in private practice.

In San Diego, patent attorney Nick Transier has been made partner. Nick specialises in drafting and prosecuting patents related to consumer electronic devices, computer systems and mechanical devices and is a member of the EIP Post team, which acts for clients involved in offensive and defensive post-grant proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to joining EIP, Nick was with Cooley LLP.

Including David and Nick, EIP has hired six partners in the last 12 months, as well as six associates and one patent searcher. EIP has also hired seven trainee patent attorneys and IP solicitors, underlining significant expansion for the firm.

Jerome Spaargaren, partner, commented:“Having had such positive growth over the last 12 months, we are delighted to announce an additional two to the partnership. David is a highly recommended lawyer in the Legal 500 rankings and has almost 20 years of experience in private practice. Nick plays an extremely important role in our US office and has provided EIP and our clients with excellent knowledge, skill and commitment over the last two years. I am really pleased to have them both on board.”
