EIP is proud to celebrate the role of women in innovation, and some of our people have recently attended Women in IP events in Manchester and London. The mixed gender social events brought together like minded professionals to demonstrate their support and recognition for all women working within the IP sector. This was part of a global initiative of AIPLA Women in IP Law events around the world.

EIP’s Gemma Wooden attended the London event. A total of 130 people enjoyed an inspiring talk from Mandy Haberman (the inventor of the Anywayup cup). She provided her insight into the challenges faced by sole inventors and SMEs, with a particular focus on IP, as well as giving the attendees some useful tips on how best to advise entrepreneurs aiming to grow their businesses. After the talk, there was time for networking with cocktails and canapes, all while savouring the fantastic view across the Thames from the Royal Festival Hall.

The Manchester event was attended by EIP’s recruitment team, Chris Ball and Grace Baker. Sarah Brearley introduced the AIPLA committee members, followed by a short video illustrating the significance of the UK charity Smart Works. It was inspiring to see everyone’s contributions to this worthy cause. After the presentations, the attendees enjoyed some gin tasting. This also provided a fantastic opportunity to network with a group of welcoming, interesting and successful people.

A huge thanks to the Women in IP committee, and to all participants for their efforts in paving the way for future generations of women.
