Associate, European Patent Attorney
Cardiff, EIP Europe LLP

Gareth is a European Patent Attorney whose work focuses on prosecuting patent applications in the electronics and optics sectors.

Prior to joining EIP Gareth spent three years working as a research scientist in academia designing, fabricating and characterising semiconductor optoelectronic devices for a diverse range of applications.

Gareth has particular experience in advanced semiconductor fabrication techniques, as well as expertise in optics, electronics and semiconductor device related technologies.

Experience

  • Specific experience prosecuting patent applications relating to optical communications, both via fibre optics and free space, as well as applications relating to optical emitters and optical sensing devices.
  • Extensive drafting experience for one of EIP's largest clients relating to optical fibre communications.
  • Patent prosecution relating to free space optical communications for a client in vehicle tracking technology.
  • Experience at conducting Oral Proceedings at the EPO, before the Examination Divisions, Opposition Divisions and Boards of Appeal.
